Just an amusing note. While I was on the phone yesterday my son hijacked the computer. He openned the Firefox and somehow renamed it 'bran'. I suppose it's a nice change from renaming programs as 'adkdkbhdigeeppt' etc.
I wonder what will happen if he renames them all bran?

Weird thing of the day, Got a letter of resignation from friend who did 255 bucks worth of Disc burning for us.
Couldn't they just say, we don't want to do this anymore, it's not cost effective for us?

A lot of fun. Not so profitable short term, but we have gained many orders from it. Looks like long term it was a good decision. :)
Hopefully, we'll have enough orders in the mean time to be able to get tables again for next show.

Crunch Time

Well, school is over. Of course, we also realized a few days ago that OMG! Gamex is on the holiday weekend. Aieeee! So, with only Four more days before setup day, we are panicing at the last minute. Projects which were put away a month ago are being dragged out.
We still have no kitchen countertops, and my husband is currently using an old dog grooming table and the ironing board to do most of his work on. But, the good news is that most of the rest of the kitchen is finished. I can call my dad and say please daddy, we need a week off or I may lose my sanity. I love you. He has been such a great help, we could have not done it without him.
First major obstacle conquered. There was a miscommunication with my art disks I was contracting out, but the problem is being fixed. Johhnice saved me! This has however tought me, that I need to save up for a computer that I can do this work on myself, and a proper printer.
Now, For a bit of deep thought. I decided last minute that my son was being too bossy and needed to go to meditation, temple, and Dharma school again. We made it... and my husband and I were very glad we went. One part of the guest speaker's story was about his experiences with learning to recognize the Amida in people. That enlightened compassion that everyone is capable of. One of his stories was about how his son was pulling his hair one morning, and it turned out he was trying to lift daddy's head to put a pillow under it. Another was about his mother and how she died very slowly, and to the end always said do your best, and be careful. It's hard to really get across what he put so well, but basically it was something I felt. I try to see that compassion, divine spark, whatever you would like to call it inside everyone. When I lose a friend/loved one, I still hear their voice in my head with those words of compassion they gave me during our time together. I hope to live a life where I have shown that I deserve the compassion others show me, and I hope to remember not to dwell on the temporary pain caused by anyone.

Just a thankyou to everyone who has picked me up when I'm down, talked to me when I was lonely, showed me respect when I wasn't being very respectful, and was kind when I realized my mistakes.
Beardancing helped me realize how much I've been through and how far I've come during my darkest days of the last four years.
Now that I'm finding stability and light again, I just wanted to say thankyou to everyone who helped me come through what were some very challenging times.
It took me having someone tell me I was making them suicidal, in an attempt to either upset me or ssatisfy some urging of theirs to truly admit how hard life had become for me and just how difficult it was to go on at times.
Loss of friends and family, and having to accept a complete change in my personal identity has taught me to treasure the moments of life both good and bad.

That's right. School, working out the kid's stuff, getting ready for the convention, and NOW I went and ordered a new kitchen. Well, it had to happen sooner or later. So we're going to be packing up the kitchen stuff this week, and Rod will be able to attack it with a sledge hammer. :D

So I'm having one of those moments. The, "why am I doing this?" Moment.
Why am I putting the extra work into trying to staff on a Mu* right now, and trying to play a PC who is in charge of some things?
Why am I putting money into booth space at conventions, when I have a child to take care of?
I know that the MU* is because I have a lot of friends on there, and also I enjoy helping facilitate RP. I will however, have to monitor my time.
As for the conventions, well... we are doing more business this year. Most of the apprehension is tightness of funds. Right now, they're just lacking and I see all the things in my home that need to finish. And how I need to pay for pre-school for my son next month. I need a new kitchen! It's literally falling apart. It is four years older than I am after all.
So I suppose part of this might be a need to ask for money from those who owe me for their share of the booth.
Another part, is to just not allow anyone else to send stuff with me to sell for them.
Then, stick to the plan. Don't let the husband oooo over fabric we don't need for the costumes we are currently working on! Oi. It just adds up in a hurry, and then I find. Woops. It's going in the closet for a while cause I don't have the time to mess with it.

Well. The good that came out of today,...
I was able to talk about the money with my husband. My parents fought so much about money when we were children that I automatically react to the subject as though it is an instant indicator of violent arguing. I literally feel my pulse rise and my breathing tense. But,... I got through it. It was hard, but I tried not to do it in an accusitory or avoiding manner.
And once it was all over? He said that ok, he will have to put some of the dog money from saturday into the bank. It was... so easy.

Yes. I've learned, that smoothing things over doesn't get rid of the problem. It just lets it stew. Approaching the problem lets it out, and sometimes... the problem isn't as big as we thought it was.

Yeah. A lot of creative energy flowing. It means I'm doing my school project in bits and pieces. But... luckily we're supposed to talk about ourselves. Because of the creative flow I'm giong to take this painting and use it as part of my 4 minute talking about myself bit.
Bah. I'm an unpaid account, otherwise I'd post the one I just did for my mom. I have to brag... In the picture the wings come out looking like I used irridescents, and in one of the images they look like they're freakin popping off the page!
Ok. So I must asses what I did, and learn how to do it frequently.

Togetherness

So my husband and I, we're sitting in the parenting class, and came to a point where we just stuck our chairs right next to each other, and began to whisper our strategy, while letting the rest of the group go off in their own world and talk.
Yes. Run on, sentence structure bad. Bite me, spank me, tell me you love me. I'm happy either way. :)
When we returned home and our son was tucked into bed my husband quietly thanked me in the living room, for being an intelligent person.
It made me all mooooshy to hear that! So anyway, we have 6 more weeks. There have been many things we've learned which have been helpful, and I'm sure there will be many more.
Today just sort of stank in the learning department. Ignoring was what we were learning to do today.
Ok, I can ignore Bran when he says, "Blah! I'm a Baby! Blah!" But... I've attempted ignoring in the past, and been repeatedly told it's what works. With Bran, it doesn't. He will escalate, and get in your face. Does he whine? No. He says things like. "Hey. Don't you talk to me like that Sir. It's not polite. I don't want to hear it right now." When he doesn't get his way.
Definitely a different can of beans.

Lace, satin, and beads

Well. I was going to sell my wedding dress. It's going to take a lot of work to fit into it again, and since I likely will not be having anymore children, I'm not going to have a girl. It would surprise me if my son married a 5 foot tall woman, with a taste for a huge gown with a full skirt, long train, lots of fancy beading and antique looking lace with a high collar.
But when I took it out of the box it had been in, I realized why a lot of women hang onto their dress for a long time. When you pull it out, the feel and the look. It sort of physically takes your mind back to a time when the relationship was fresh, and still in that full swing of new love.
It's a good thing. When you've been together for 10 years, you start to get used to one another. Sometimes you forget that finding falling asleep together to be more intimate than hot passionate sex just means you're truly bonded together with time. And the dress reminds you why you fell in love in the first place. :)

Yes. That's right. I'm painting again. And I shocked myself. I'm not on this taking a week to do one painting anymore. I'm back to my old self of doing two or three in one night. Having removed some baggage I'm feeling inspired again. Plus, I was convinced by outside forces. When at Gencon, I had an interview with one of the Wizards of the coast representatives. When looking over my portfolio she told me, she noticed that when I tried to make things look more realistic, in the typical fantasy art fashion I seemed to lose the emotion and three demensional quality to my work. You hate doing them, don't you. If you hate them, don't do it. I really like your more ghost like images.
Yes, that is what she said. And yes. I hate doing fantasy art the way everyone else does it. Please don't mistake me, I like looking at the usual fantasy art. Hell I have several angels on my walls from one such fantasy artist. But I hate *painting them myself*. It just doesn't speak to me. I suppose it would be like a person who enjoys writing about gothic scenes, or warlike settings... being forced to write a story about happy clowns that don't kill each other.
And I'm not alone, there are plenty of artists out there who can't say what they want to by doing representational art.
As Georgia O'Keffe said, "I had been taught to work like others and after careful thinking I decided that I wasn't going to spend my life doing what had already been done."
I took art In high school. Bot bored of it and stopped. back in 1999 I decided I wanted to paint again. So I did. The first painting I ever did was truly me. Eerie, ghostly, and somewhere in the realm between abstract and impressionism. A bright figure moving smoothly through the night with a glow about her. Some saw her as disturbing. But I saw her as searching. Peaceful. Others saw other things. I went away from this style of painting and into the more representational art because I thought it would sell better. But that's not the case. The last two shows I did people bought my older stuff. The stuff I did just because I wanted to. I've headed away from representational, and though my style has changed some due to the larger variety of art styles I have been exposed to over the last six years. But I am pleased again with my work. Not just being able to say that I did a good job on that one. But that I am happy with it. It says what I was feeling. Of course. Listening to my Husband read aloud from the old Cthulu stories in the background now and then does help. >:)

All about Art

Well, it turns out that's really what the class is about. The class said introduction to art, and the way the summary was written it sounded like I'd be doing basic art. This was not however the case. Good news is I'm enjoying the class already anyway so I will be keeping it. Not to mention the fact that it is required for Art majors anyway.
I could go for a history major again and with two or three classes be finished with school, but since my goal is to be a successful artist I thought it would be worth it to go through the extra work. Certainly helps that my professor is actually an artist that makes a bit of a living off what he does, instead of my typical high-school art teacher who became an art teacher because he couldn't make it in the art biz.
Another big plus today, we only had two '13th graders'. The sort of freshmen who still think they're in high school. They talk through the class, show up 20 minutes late, miss half of what the teacher says. I can quote one of them as saying, "Are we supposed to be taking notes in this class?"
Some of it was amusing. :) The unamusing parts won't be a problem much longer though. We all had to sign a paper saying we couldn't do those things or the teacher would drop us from the class. I can't see them lasting all that long.
Anyway, school is why I've been away today and likely tomorrow.

Ju-Oh. It's the Japanese original that inspired 'The Grudge'. Very creepy. Also, Onmiyoji II. The best of magic weilding demon-banishing preists and fancy flying martial arts scenes rolled into one. Or two movies. But the best thing is the Kitsune man. He's so funny. He doesn't transform but it's so obvious, and he gets told people call him the 'white fox'. The actor was certainly perfect for the part.
As for life... The upside to not taking the medication is I am now under 220lbs again. I had gone up to 230, having gained 50lbs while on the medication. For those of you who didn't know I'm only 5 feet tall so that's very very bad. The downside, is that all the freaky dreams are back. But I dealt with them for all the other years of my life so I'll just deal with them some more. As long as Bran doesn't wake up when I scream in my sleep we'll be fine, and he seems to not do so. I haven't been sleep-walking yet so that's a good thing.
